 PAGAN MUSIC

The Dolmen great Pagan folk band from Weymouth in Dorset, see gig list, photos and listen to mp3s on the website. Catch them play at the Wessex and Mercian Gatherings too!

Magicfolk A folk-rock band writing original music inspired by mysticism and mythology, likened to Jethro Tull, Jefferson Airplane, Clannad, Renaissance, Fairport Convention, Enya. The music has strong melodies and rhythms, and "hauntingly beautiful" ambient sounds, using a mix of electric and traditional - flute, drums, keyboards, clarinet, guitars, sax, and rich vocal harmonies. There are some sound clips and more info on the website .

Damh the Bard - Damh is a modern-day Bard whose spirituality, and love of folk tradition, is expressed through his music, storytelling and poetry. Drawing on the Bardic traditions his performances are both entertaining and educational, weaving a tapestry of myth, peace, and anthems that speak directly to the heart, but never without a good splash of humour. Damh is a musical storyteller who works within the world of myth that cannot be proved; where the Faerie really do dance on Midsummer's Eve, where the trees talk, and the Hollow Hills take you into the realms of Annwn. Where the Goddess rides her horse, guiding you to magic, and the Horned God of old calls us from the shadows of the Greenwood. So relax, and let the music take you there.

Schelmish ("Mischievous") was formed in 1999.  The success of the first concerts proved that the Schelms were on their way, and so a band was born, which shows its flare not only at medieval markets, banquets, and in the live role-play scene, but increasingly at their own concerts.  Not only famous in their  native Germany, the Schelms are already well known throughout Europe and are fast gaining a high reputation in the UK with many thousands of established fans.  Their stage shows for both the rock and medieval programmes prove that they are ingenious showman and their performance includes the crowd; as much as it does entertain them.  Not all songs are taken from the traditional medieval song pool.  Schelmish have developed many original compositions to be performed with the vigorous use of bagpipe and drums; as their latter CD's prove! When you read their promotional flyers, you'll quickly discover that they are multi instrumentalists, talented musicians and artistic progressive lyricists with a great sense of fun thrown in!

Stav Stav is a Norwegian word, meaning 'stave'. It has many connotations, but the one of most relevance here is its reference to the ancient alphabet, the rune staves, of ancient Norse and Germanic origin. The word Stav implies a deep understanding of the runes through the many attributes that tradition, mythology and everyday life has attached to them. Stav is a Mind, Body Spirit system, comparable to Tai Chi and Yoga, but originating through the traditions and mythology of Northern Europe, rather than the Orient. It developed through the Norwegian family, Hafskjold, and is often referred to as Hafskjold Stav. The system helps people improve and develop themselves by dealing with them holistically. That is Stav works on the whole person: their physical body, their mind (both logical and intuitive) and their spirituality. Only by working with all three can people develop into complete, fully rounded individuals.
